Saint Rose Exhibition Bi POLAR, Journeys to the Ends of the Earth

Yesterday the work for this show..at the College of Saint Rose's Esther Massry Gallery, was picked up by art movers and taken to Albany. Five years of work--(if I include the National Science Foundation's Antarctica's Artist and Writer's Program application process) left my studio.

The show opens on February 1. I will go there on January 14 to paint a large landscape directly on wall. then there will be 30 small paintings on wood panels on top of the painted wall. The series of drawings Ninety-Degree Draft, two accordion books done in Antarctica, and a video and other drawings will be included as well.

Last 18 Hours of USA Projects Fundraiser

I have raised more than my minimum goal of $6000 towards the printing of editions of Ninety-Degree Draft, Art Amidst Science in Antarctica and of the two gouache, color pencil accordion books, one showing views out of the windows at McMurdo Station and the other about the same at the Lake Hoare Field Camp.

I still have from this moment --18 hours to raise any additional funds.

I am so grateful to all of the people who encouraged me and to those who have contributed.

Thank you.

The Artist's Book-- Ninety-Degree Draft: Art Amidst Science in Antarctica

Today is the day I am launching my new project to raise funds for an edition of the artist's book Ninety-Degree Draft: Art Amidst Science in Antarctica. I am doing it through USA Projects. You can see a video  and find out the benefits of contributing at this site.

I am working with Dutch photographer Reinier Gerritsen to produce editions of this book of drawings and text--the entire drawing Ninety-Degree Draft will be included as well as images of drawings/paintings done on-site and upon return from Antarctica as well as additional text.

Here is the site........

Selinunte

The pictures here are all from Selinunte and Cave di Cusa--on the southwest coast of Sicily. I took a day trip there. Cave di Cusa was the stone quarry and source of columns for some of the temples at Selinunte.

My days at Bosco Faconeria are coming to an end. I have finished the job of cataloging my host's culinary and medieval history library....This is what brought me here in the first place and at the same time has allowed me to experience Sicilian farm life as well as explore a bit of the island. I have also made new work here---such an entirely different landscape. I finished another accordion book of windows.
